NPI-704 is a mixed free radical photoinitiator with a long absorption wavelength, excellent deep curing performance, and photo-bleaching properties. It is particularly suitable for LED curing coatings and inks, offering lower odor and easier handling compared to TPO. Recommended for use in UV-curable coatings and inks, it can be combined with 184 for balanced performance.
Introduction
NPI-704 is a liquid blend of three phosphine-oxide and phosphinate initiators, supplied as a yellow transparent liquid so it can be dosed without any powder handling. It exists for formulators who want TPO-class LED performance but would rather not deal with a solid that needs a premix step.
The blend is the point. Combining a phosphinate with two phosphine oxides broadens the absorption across the 380–420 nm region that LED arrays occupy, and the liquid form means loading adjustments can be made incrementally. Odour and handling are both easier than with straight TPO powder.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Yellow transparent liquid. Blend of CAS 84434-11-7 (TPO-L), 75980-60-8 (TPO) and 162881-26-7 (BAPO). Purity ≥98.00% by GC. Liquid at room temperature, so no melting range applies. Recommended at 1–3% in coatings and 5–10% in inks.
Applications
LED-curable coatings and inks, particularly where through-cure in a pigmented or thick film is the limiting factor. Can be combined with 184 for a more balanced cure across the film.
Regulatory status
This blend contains TPO, and that is the fact that governs its regulatory position. Because the TPO component is present, the same considerations apply: TPO is an SVHC with a harmonised Repr. 1B classification, it was brought into Annex XVII via Appendix 6 to Entry 30 by Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/1731, it was removed from the EuPIA suitability list in January 2026, and ECHA recommended it for the Authorisation List in November 2025. The BAPO component has no such file. The TPO-L component is not caught by that Annex XVII entry.
If you are substituting NPI-704 for a TPO-based formulation to solve a handling problem, note that it solves the handling problem and not the regulatory one. If you need both solved, tell us the application and we will suggest a blend that does not contain TPO. See the TPO page for the detail.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQ depends on the product and specification. For most chemicals we can supply from 1 kg sample orders up to full container loads (FCL). Contact us with the product name and CAS number for a specific MOQ quotation.
Can you provide samples before I place a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are available for most products — typically 100g to 1kg. Sample fees may apply for expensive products and are usually deducted from your first bulk order. We recommend independent testing of samples before committing to bulk.
What documents do you provide with each shipment?
Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), MSDS/SDS, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Certificates of origin, REACH/SVHC declarations and third-party inspection reports are available on request.
What is your typical lead time?
Production usually takes 10–20 days depending on the product and quantity. Sea freight to most destinations takes 15–30 days; air freight 5–10 days for samples and small orders. Our five warehouses in China allow fast dispatch of stocked items.
What payment terms do you accept?
We commonly accept 30% deposit + 70% against copy of bill of lading, T/T bank transfer, and Letters of Credit (L/C) for larger orders. Payment terms are confirmed in writing before production starts.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
We are an integrated supplier with three in-house manufacturing plants, supported by five warehouses across China. This gives us direct control over production quality while maintaining a broad product range.
