379 is a free radical photoinitiator with high initiating activity and excellent deep curing performance. It is commonly used as a direct substitute for 907 and is especially suitable for colored UV-curing systems when combined with thioxanthone. Recommended dosage is 3–5%.
Equivalent grades. The same substance is sold by other manufacturers as Omnirad 379, Irgacure 379. It is the same CAS number (119344-86-4) and the same chemistry, so a formulation written around one of those grades transfers directly.
Introduction
379 is the grade formulators reach for when 907 is not an option. Chemically it is an amino ketone of the same family, with high initiating activity and absorption reaching to 320 nm, so it cures through pigment and through thick sections where a surface-acting initiator cannot.
It is normally used with a thioxanthone. On its own, 379 covers the depth; adding DETX or ITX covers the light that gets through, and the pair together will cure a coloured film that neither manages alone.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Light yellow powder. Molecular formula C24H32N2O2, molecular weight 380.53, purity ≥96.00% by HPLC, melting range 82.0–105.0 °C. Absorption maxima at 233 nm and 320 nm.
Applications
Recommended at 3–5% by weight. Suited to coloured UV-curing systems, thick films, and applications where 907 has been specified historically. Combining with a thioxanthone is the standard approach for pigmented work.
Regulatory status
379 has been on the REACH Candidate List since 23 January 2024 and carries a harmonised Repr. 1B classification. It is positively listed in Swiss Annex 10 at 0.05 mg/kg, which is possible because CMR status bars a substance from the non-listed and functional-barrier routes rather than from being listed. It does not appear in category V of the German Anlage 14, and ECHA's thirteenth draft recommendation proposes it for the Authorisation List. That recommendation is not law. If you are reviewing a 907 substitution, read 379's position alongside 907's before deciding: they are not interchangeable from a compliance standpoint.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQ depends on the product and specification. For most chemicals we can supply from 1 kg sample orders up to full container loads (FCL). Contact us with the product name and CAS number for a specific MOQ quotation.
Can you provide samples before I place a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are available for most products — typically 100g to 1kg. Sample fees may apply for expensive products and are usually deducted from your first bulk order. We recommend independent testing of samples before committing to bulk.
What documents do you provide with each shipment?
Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), MSDS/SDS, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Certificates of origin, REACH/SVHC declarations and third-party inspection reports are available on request.
What is your typical lead time?
Production usually takes 10–20 days depending on the product and quantity. Sea freight to most destinations takes 15–30 days; air freight 5–10 days for samples and small orders. Our five warehouses in China allow fast dispatch of stocked items.
What payment terms do you accept?
We commonly accept 30% deposit + 70% against copy of bill of lading, T/T bank transfer, and Letters of Credit (L/C) for larger orders. Payment terms are confirmed in writing before production starts.
