NPI-50104 CAS 474510-57-1 - Topfine Chemical

NPI-50104 is a bifunctional free radical photoinitiator with high reactivity, low volatility, low migration, low toxicity, and low yellowing. It is suitable for materials in direct contact with the human body, such as coatings and food packaging inks, as well as thin coatings where oxygen inhibition is significant.

Introduction

NPI-50104 is a methylene-bridged bis alpha-hydroxy ketone. Two hydroxy ketone groups sit on either side of a central methylene link, which makes the molecule substantially larger than a conventional alpha-hydroxy ketone while keeping the initiating chemistry familiar.

That size is the design intent. A larger molecule moves through a cured film more slowly and evaporates less readily, so it addresses migration and odour at the same time as it cures. The chemistry is the same family sold elsewhere as Omnirad 127, and a specification written around that grade applies here.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Off-white powder. Chemical name 2,2'-methylenebis(4,1-phenylene)bis(2-hydroxy-2-methylpropan-1-one). Molecular formula C21H24O4, molecular weight 340.41, purity ≥98.00% by HPLC, loss on drying 2–6%, recommended dosage 3–5%. Absorption maximum at 278 nm.

Applications

Coatings and inks for food packaging and other direct-contact work, and thin films where oxygen inhibition is significant. Bifunctional behaviour gives useful deep-cure performance alongside the surface cure.

Regulatory status

NPI-50104 has no harmonised classification under CLP and is not on the REACH Candidate List. It is not listed in Swiss Annex 10.

As with the rest of this family, the low-migration argument here is structural: a bigger molecule diffuses more slowly. It is a good reason to test this grade, and it is not a substitute for testing. Migration limits are met by a construction, not by a molecule, and the measurement has to be made on your film.

Handling & Storage

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

MOQ depends on the product and specification. For most chemicals we can supply from 1 kg sample orders up to full container loads (FCL). Contact us with the product name and CAS number for a specific MOQ quotation.

Can you provide samples before I place a bulk order?

Yes. Samples are available for most products — typically 100g to 1kg. Sample fees may apply for expensive products and are usually deducted from your first bulk order. We recommend independent testing of samples before committing to bulk.

What documents do you provide with each shipment?

Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), MSDS/SDS, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Certificates of origin, REACH/SVHC declarations and third-party inspection reports are available on request.

What is your typical lead time?

Production usually takes 10–20 days depending on the product and quantity. Sea freight to most destinations takes 15–30 days; air freight 5–10 days for samples and small orders. Our five warehouses in China allow fast dispatch of stocked items.

What payment terms do you accept?

We commonly accept 30% deposit + 70% against copy of bill of lading, T/T bank transfer, and Letters of Credit (L/C) for larger orders. Payment terms are confirmed in writing before production starts.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

We are an integrated supplier with three in-house manufacturing plants, supported by five warehouses across China. This gives us direct control over production quality while maintaining a broad product range.
