NPI-20400 CAS 2020359-04-8 - Topfine Chemical

NPI-20400 is a general-purpose free radical photoinitiator with high initiating activity and excellent deep curing performance. It offers non-reproductive toxic, low odor, low migration, good solubility, and excellent thermal stability, making it a suitable substitute for 907. It is particularly effective in colored systems when used in combination with thioxanthone photoinitiators.

Introduction

NPI-20400 is a fluorene-based amino ketone built as a 907 substitute, and the design brief is visible in its structure. The dibutylfluorene group is bulky, and bulk is what keeps a molecule from migrating: it diffuses through a cured film far more slowly than a small one. The morpholine ketone on the other end does the initiating work.

The other half of the brief is that it carries no reproductive-toxicity classification, which is the property that makes 907 increasingly awkward to specify. That is not a marketing position. It is a difference in hazard classification, and it changes what your SDS has to say and which routes your formulation can use.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Off-white to light yellow powder. Chemical name 1-(9,9-dibutyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)-2-methyl-2-morpholin-4-yl-propan-1-one. Molecular formula C29H39NO2, molecular weight 433.64, purity ≥98.50%, melting range 63.0–73.0 °C, loss on drying ≤0.50%. Absorption maximum at 313 nm.

Applications

Recommended at 3–5%, which is roughly 1.3 to 1.5 times the loading you would use for 907. That dosing factor is worth planning for: a direct substitution at the same percentage will under-cure, and the fix is more initiator rather than a different product. Particularly effective in coloured systems combined with a thioxanthone.

Regulatory status

NPI-20400 carries no reproductive-toxicity classification and has no harmonised classification under CLP. It is not on the REACH Candidate List and is not listed in Swiss Annex 10. Migration performance depends on your film weight, substrate and cure conditions, so it has to be measured for your construction rather than assumed from the chemistry.

Handling & Storage

Store sealed, cool, dry and dark. Consult the SDS.

Packaging

20 kg cartons. COA per batch, SDS in English, samples available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

MOQ depends on the product and specification. For most chemicals we can supply from 1 kg sample orders up to full container loads (FCL). Contact us with the product name and CAS number for a specific MOQ quotation.

Can you provide samples before I place a bulk order?

Yes. Samples are available for most products — typically 100g to 1kg. Sample fees may apply for expensive products and are usually deducted from your first bulk order. We recommend independent testing of samples before committing to bulk.

What documents do you provide with each shipment?

Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), MSDS/SDS, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Certificates of origin, REACH/SVHC declarations and third-party inspection reports are available on request.

What is your typical lead time?

Production usually takes 10–20 days depending on the product and quantity. Sea freight to most destinations takes 15–30 days; air freight 5–10 days for samples and small orders. Our five warehouses in China allow fast dispatch of stocked items.

What payment terms do you accept?

We commonly accept 30% deposit + 70% against copy of bill of lading, T/T bank transfer, and Letters of Credit (L/C) for larger orders. Payment terms are confirmed in writing before production starts.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

We are an integrated supplier with three in-house manufacturing plants, supported by five warehouses across China. This gives us direct control over production quality while maintaining a broad product range.
