Grade PID C-1 | Metal content 7±0.2%. Used as an auxiliary drier in oil-based paints, varnishes, and printing inks to enhance drying.
Introduction
Manganese naphthenate is a top drier, used to accelerate surface drying and shorten tack-free time in alkyd and epoxy ester systems. Like the cobalt naphthenates, it has the advantage of sitting outside the 2-EHA restriction that applies to the octoate family.
This grade is a 7 ± 0.2% manganese solution in 200# solvent oil, dark brown and viscous, with high metal-content tolerance for reproducible dosing.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Dark brown viscous liquid. Metal content 7 ± 0.2% Mn. Density 0.95–1.05 g/cm³ at 20 °C, viscosity ≤200 mPa·s at 25 °C, flash point ≥40 °C closed cup, acid value ≤10 mg KOH/g, moisture ≤0.5%.
Applications
Top drier in combination with cobalt or zirconium, reducing tack-free time in alkyd systems. Good solubility in common paint solvents. Cost-effective within traditional drier systems.
Regulatory status
This is the same substance as the market knows well, and it is a manganese drier rather than a cobalt one, so it is outside the cobalt conversation entirely.
Where it differs from our manganese octoate is the acid. Manganese octoate is built on 2-ethylhexanoic acid, which carries a harmonised Repr. 1B classification under CLP entry 607-230-00-6 and was brought into Annex XVII Appendix 6 by Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1132 from 1 December 2023. Manganese naphthenate is built on naphthenic acid and is not caught by that listing. If a customer is moving away from octoate driers, this is one of the grades that gets them there.
Manganese naphthenate has no harmonised CLP classification, is not on the REACH Candidate List, and is not subject to an Authorisation List entry. Transport class UN 1268, Class 3, PG III, from the mineral spirits carrier.

Flammable liquid. Store cool, dry and well ventilated away from ignition sources. Consult the SDS.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQ depends on the product and specification. For most chemicals we can supply from 1 kg sample orders up to full container loads (FCL). Contact us with the product name and CAS number for a specific MOQ quotation.
Can you provide samples before I place a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are available for most products — typically 100g to 1kg. Sample fees may apply for expensive products and are usually deducted from your first bulk order. We recommend independent testing of samples before committing to bulk.
What documents do you provide with each shipment?
Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA), MSDS/SDS, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Certificates of origin, REACH/SVHC declarations and third-party inspection reports are available on request.
What is your typical lead time?
Production usually takes 10–20 days depending on the product and quantity. Sea freight to most destinations takes 15–30 days; air freight 5–10 days for samples and small orders. Our five warehouses in China allow fast dispatch of stocked items.
What payment terms do you accept?
We commonly accept 30% deposit + 70% against copy of bill of lading, T/T bank transfer, and Letters of Credit (L/C) for larger orders. Payment terms are confirmed in writing before production starts.
