Colorless transparent liquid. Melting point is 16.635°C, boiling point is 117.9°C, relative density is 1.0492 (20/4°C), refractive index is 1.3716, flash point (open cup) is 57°C, autoignition point is 465°C, viscosity is 11.83mPa·s (20°C). When pure acetic acid is below 16°C, it can form ice-like solid, so it is called glacial acetic acid. Miscible with water, ethanol, benzene and ether, insoluble in carbon disulfide. When water is added to acetic acid, the combined volume decreases and the density increases. The molecular ratio is 1:1, further dilution, the above-mentioned volume change will no longer occur. Has a pungent odor.
